A Conversation with Alex Kharam

What follows was a conversation that was recorded on paper during my U.S. history class.

Alex: Was Jesus married?

Andrew: No. But even if he was, how would that disprove his divinity?

Alex: He wasn't a virgin.

Andrew: Christians say that Jesus Christ was fully man and fully God. It doesn't matter if he wasn't a virgin. Marriage is a good thing in God's sight because the Bible says, "Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed be kept pure for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." (Hebrews 13:4) If Jesus was married it only proves he was human.

Alex: Because he was God when he married his children (humans) it makes God = people and can be considered incest.

Andrew: According to Jewish law though, Jesus would have been fulfilling a mitzvah by trying to have kids (see Genesis 1:28). Also when the Bible says that we're God's children it's talking about a Creator to creation relationship. If Jesus had kids it would only attest to the fact that he was sinless.

Alex: The Virgin Mary had Jesus without having sex. Therefore God doesn't need to literally have sex with a woman to make here have children.

Andrew: But the book of Philippians says that Jesus didn't consider equality with God something to be grasped. He laid aside certain powers of the Godhead. Therefore he [Jesus] would need to have sex to have kids.
